Tight tolerances, high-strength jackets and long service life

Round pipes, virgin material and thick protective jackets. At Hallingplast, we strive to produce the best pipe system on the market.

We therefore place significantly higher demands on our products than the standard prescribes. Our pressure pipe systems made of PE100 RC are a good example of this. For this product, we have a maximum ovality tolerance of just 1.5%, far stricter than the standard tolerance of 3.5%.

As said, we set higher requirements than what is required according to the standard. We think it is natural that you, as a client, should do the same. In this way, we get pipe systems that will live for generations.

"The commitment to continuous improvement and innovation is deeply embedded in our employees"

Customer expectations are the foundation of our quality

"For us, quality means both meeting the specified requirements and exceeding customer expectations. We therefore view standards as the baseline," says Elisabeth Hovda, Hallingplast’s Material Technology Manager. "By setting requirements above the standard and conducting extensive testing, we ensure consistent, high-quality results. This commitment to continuous improvement and innovation is deeply embedded in our employees and evident across the entire company."

Round pipes

Pipes made of polyethylene, which is a soft and malleable material, must be round to obtain an optimal weld during jointing. This is regardless of whether you use welding sleeves or butt welds. We therefore use a quality-based cooling process where the pipe is cooled both from the inside and outside for a longer period. Deformation of the pipe will thus be minimal. This, combined with virgin material and consistently higher requirements than standard, means that we can deliver round pipes with minimal ovality – which is a prerequisite for welding secure joints, whether you use butt welding or welding sleeves.

Virgin material

We use only virgin polyethylene (PE) in the production of pressure pipes in order to ensure the highest possible quality. By using virgin material, we know exactly what the pipe material consists of and can thus eliminate the risk of contamination in e.g. the transport of drinking water. We also offer pipes made of PE100 RC for optimal protection against cracking and for maximum service life.

High-strength jacket for extra-long service life

As alternative installation methods become more common, demands on pipe systems are increasing in terms of durability and ability to withstand slow crack growth. Some of our pressure pipes are therefore reinforced with an extra-high-strength polypropylene jacket that provides effective protection of the media pipe. Hallingplast JAPI (“Jacketed Pipe”) has a protective PP jacket that is, for example, 3.8 mm thick for pipe dimensions 225 mm and SDR class 17, which means that the jacket represents 28% of the total thickness of the pipe. The thickness of the jacket gradually increases as the pipe dimension increases and all pipes above 355 mm have a jacket that is 5.0 mm thick, providing excellent protection against cracks and point loads.
