Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
Hallingplast takes sustainability seriously and is working to implement environmental product declarations (EPD) for its entire product range. This initiative ensures that customers and partners receive transparent and verified information about the environmental impact of Hallingplast’s products, contributing to more sustainable choices and reducing the overall environmental footprint throughout the value chain.
What is an EPD?
An EPD, or Environmental Product Declaration, is a document that provides detailed and verified information about the environmental properties of a product throughout its life cycle. An EPD is prepared according to international standards such as ISO 14025 and EN 15804. The purpose of an EPD is to provide transparent and comparable data that can be used to assess the environmental impact of products.
Key components of an EPD:
- Product description: Information about the product and its application.
- Life Cycle Assessment (LCA): An assessment of environmental impacts throughout the product’s life cycle, including raw material extraction, production, transport, use, and disposal.
- Environmental impact:Quantification of factors such as global warming, ozone depletion, acidification, eutrophication, and resource consumption.
- Data quality: Information on data sources and the quality of data used in the life cycle assessment.
- Verification: Third-party verification to ensure that the information and methodology used are correct and comply with relevant standards.
