Hallingplast JAPI

- pipe with an extra-high-strength jacket made of PP
No-dig, or trenchless, installation is gaining popularity as methods such as guided and horizontal drilling, sliplining, and pipe fracturing often offer significant advantages in terms of environmental impact, time efficiency, and cost savings for pipeline owners. However, a key challenge with these techniques is the inability to monitor potential pipe damage during installation. To address this, pipes designed for such applications typically include a protective jacket that safeguards the media pipe from potential damage during the installation process.

In order to prevent potential damage to the pipe when using alternative installation methods, we have developed Hallingplast JAPI (“Jacketed Pipe”), a pipe with an extra-high-strength outer PP jacket. This protective layer shields the media pipe, reducing the risk of damage and ensuring a long service life even in demanding installation conditions.

The toughest pressure pipe on the market

For our JAPI pipes, the thickness of the jacket gradually increases as the pipe dimension increases and all pipes above 355 mm have a jacket that is 5.0 mm thick, providing excellent protection against cracks and point loads. There are pipes on the market with significantly thinner jackets, which do not provide the same protection for the media pipe as a high-strength jacket. Therefore, always check the jacket thickness when choosing pipes to be sure to get the best possible protection for the pipe.

More resistance to shear forces

PP is a stiffer material than PE, making it more resistant to shear forces that occur in trenchless installations. It is also harder and provides less friction compared to PE. PP has no adhesion to PE, which means that the PP jacket can be peeled.

Benefits of Hallingplast JAPI

  • Extra-high-strength jacket (example 3.8 mm at dim 225 mm / SDR17)
  • Better option than increasing the thickness of the pipe
  • The jacket protects the pipe during installation
  • Jacket made of PP, which is a stiffer material than PE
  • Best option for trenchless installations
  • Can be delivered in coils up to dimension Ø 180 med mer

Hallingplast JAPI is available in two versions, one for water supply and sewage and one for gas.

Hallingplast JAPI for water supply and sewage – dimensions Ø 32 – 1000 mm
Approved to Nordic Poly Mark, DK-VAND and FI.

Hallingplast JAPI GAS – dimensions Ø 32 – 630 mm
Manufactured according to standard EN 1555 and meets the requirements of the Swedish Gas Association standard EGN 2023.
